Hi, my friends!

I’m popping into your inboxes between monthly letters with a quick treat — the cover and publication date for The Heart of the World! It’s starting to feed out to retailers now, and I wanted to be sure you saw it first.

The art, again, is by Aykut Aydoğdu, and he absolutely knocked it out of the park. There are so many beautiful little details I love — as with Selly’s book, it’s not a literal representation of a moment from the story, but rather a portrait that captures everything that’s happening in it. I can’t wait to get them framed, side by side.

In future letters I’ll tell you more about what the book is about, but for now, I’ll share this line from an email my editor sent me the other day:

On a line by line basis, this is simply the best writing I’ve seen you do. Emotional, concise, and expansive all at once. Bravo. 

I am, safe to say, pretty chuffed. I’ve worked so hard on the conclusion to this duology, set in a world I’ve been building for over ten years, and I’m excited to share it with you. I can also share that it will have a recap of book one in the front, for those of you who are forgetful, like I am.

The Heart of the World will be out in the USA on July 2nd, 2024.
