I love the idea of aca-fans! When I was getting my Masters, every assignment I could focused on character agency in YA stories because intellectual engagement and exploration of those ideas is why I wanted a degree! As you point out, there's a certain bias being embedded in the genre world. And also there's also a sort of low-key expertise that comes with familiarity and allows us to engage broadly on a variety of topics.
